Life as I know it: Michelle Keegan
MICHELLE Keegan, 26, plays Tina McIntyre in Coronation Street. She is dating reality TV star Mark Wright and lives in Manchester.





Not a lot of people know this but I'm very good at... headstands. I can stay on my head for about five minutes. I can beat anyone in a contest.

My best friend is... I have a group of seven girls who are special friends and I've known since primary school. We all have individual personalities, but we share a great sense of humour.

The bravest thing I've ever done is... move out of my mum's house. It really was the fear of the unknown.

I'm very close to both my parents but I did want my independence, and I can still remember the first night when Mum dropped me off, lying on my bed thinking, "Oh my goodness, I have done it. I am living on my own." I love it now, and when I went back to stay with Mum for a bit recently, it didn't feel the same any more.

My nickname is... Keegs. As I've got older, people have started calling me this. I used to be called Chelle.

My favourite TV show is... Plebs on ITV2. It's really funny.

The one thing I'd change about myself is... All girls have parts of their body they don't like, but I'm not pointing mine out in public! There are often days when I think I can't wear something because I feel big in it.

My first kiss was with... a boy called Alan when I was 12. It was out of school and we were in a field. Everyone crowded around us. I have never felt pressure like it! There must have been 30 people shouting, "Do it." It was horrible.

The best thing my parents taught me was... manners. That's something you use every day and it makes a big difference. Even when you are just talking to someone, you think, "Ah, she has good manners."

If I can, I always try to avoid... arguments. I hate confrontation. Even if I've got nothing to do with an argument but I can still hear it, I feel uncomfortable and try to get away.

It's not good for my image but I like... my comfort blanket. I've had it since I was a baby and everyone knows about it. I lost it on the train once and put out a message on Twitter for someone to find it. I was gutted but, thankfully, a kind person gave it back to me.

My greatest weakness is... my dogs. I'm always buying treats and clothes for them. They've even got tracksuits, which they hate, but I can't help myself.





If I could pass any law it would be... to ban parking meters. I've had so many tickets.

The shop I can't walk past without buying something is... Topshop. I always think I'll just have a quick look and then I end up in there for an hour.

The most expensive thing I've ever frittered money on is... a cruise for my parents' 50th birthdays. My mum cried her eyes out and my dad couldn't believe it.

My perfect Sunday is... having a lie-in, then taking the dogs out for a walk and going for a nice roast. It doesn't matter what it is - I'll eat anything.

My favourite place in Britain is... the Lake District. It's a beautiful part of the country and I wish I could go more often. I also love Manchester, which is where my family, home and friends are. I wouldn't mind discovering a bit more of the world but I can see myself staying right here.

The book I'm currently reading is... Cheryl Cole's autobiography. I'm really enjoying it.

The best day of my life was... landing the role of Tina on Coronation Street nearly six years ago. When I got the part, I was so numb and I can remember not talking very much. The whole day was a blur. I do feel I have grown up a lot on the set. I started when I was 20 and it's been a crucial part of my life. I've become a lot more confident.
